This document from the Geological Society of America summarizes the skills most sought by employers of bachelors-level geoscientists.
This document explores just some of the available career fields in the Environmental Sciences.
This document compares the differences between Environmental Science and Environmental Studies.
This document, which I copied from an American Geological Institute flyer, contains an overview of a number of common career paths in the geosciences. Note that most of these specialties will require at least a Master's degree.
I put together this document comparing some of the math and science requirements for a B.S. in Geology at several common transfer institutions. PLEASE NOTE: school requirements change frequently, and without notice. While I try to keep this document up to date, it is your responsibility to confirm anything you read here. Do not rely on this document as your sole source of information about a transfer institution!
Education – Many professional associations provide opportunities for their members to educate themselves on the best practices in their industry through training, workshops, seminars, and online courses. These are often given by industry leaders who have years of experience, and can aid in your job application process post-graduation.
Exclusive Online Resources – With a membership in a professional association, you may gain access to journals, articles, webinars, infographics, and message boards to aid your professional growth and development. They may even provide access to databases of internship and job openings in your desired field.
Networking Opportunities – Professional associations provide networking opportunities with people who are specifically in your industry. Whether you are looking to pursue employment opportunities, connect with other industry professionals, or even looking for a mentor within your profession, the networking opportunities are invaluable.
Conferences – Events and conferences are a great way to get to know your fellow members and connect with some of the brightest minds in your industry. The more involved with an association you are, the more it will benefit your professional growth. Expand your leadership skills with executive roles within your association and include the position in your resume.
