DESCRIPTION: In a world of declining student enrollment, ACC has defied the odds and maintained our Adult Education classes consistently at capacity. But HOW?
Adult Education would like to present our best practices for student success and retention, as well as speak on our new programs and initiatives.
The Adult Education Division has numerous offerings and opportunities for students to develop the various skills needed to become successful professionals, prepared for traditional higher education or entering the workforce.
During the presentation we will:
Explain the various practices of AE that promote student readiness.
Introduce new programs and offerings.
Demonstrate our student support services of AE Advising, 'Welcome Workshops' promoting computer literacy, student advocacy and in-person support from Information Center, help via LiveChat, and personalized email correspondence.
Host a game which will denote the significance Adult Education programs play in the community.

DESCRIPTION: This workshop will define metacognition, explore metacognitive strategies and tools to assist students in becoming better self-directed learners.
Objectives:
Define metacognition and self-directed learning.
Identify teaching strategies for teachers and study approaches for students.
Identify tools that may be used in a metacognitive approach to learning.
Offer resources for a deeper understanding of metacognition.

DESCRIPTION: Our 3Cs - Collaboration, Connection, and Caring, all have something in common - communication! As an employee, it’s important to stay informed, seek information, and most importantly, share what you know!
In this session, participants will be connected to key communications channels at the college, easy tools and resources to help disseminate knowledge, and productive techniques that contribute to the conversation at ACC.
