FAQ

How much does it cost to participate?

This program is free of charge to participants as it is funded through the ASES grant and ELO-P appropriation. However, donations help the program tremendously and are openly welcomed.

Where is AUSD Adventures offered?

AUSD Adventures offers expanded day programs at all elementary school sites in the district. The average enrollment at each site varies, ranging from 100 to 180 students.

Who qualifies to participate in AUSD Adventures?

Beginning the summer of 2023, students who meet the definition of an unduplicated pupil will be given priority to enroll in any Adventures program. "Unduplicated pupil" means a pupil enrolled in a school district or a charter school classroom-based instructional program who is either classified as an English Learner, eligible for a free or reduced priced meal through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), or is a foster youth.

Qualifying students will have access to the After School Program registration form on Parent Portal. Qualifying students who complete the form after July 16, 2023 will be placed on a waitlist. Placement into the program will be provided pending availability.

Non-qualifying students are placed on a lottery waitlist. Random selection will be used prior to each trimester to fill available space at each site. Students not enrolled will be included in each subsequent lottery. Please contact the Adventures office if your child is a non-qualifying student and you would like to place them on the lottery waitlist.

I believe my child qualifies for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). How do I apply?

Fill out the Alternative Income Form in the Parent Portal.

Qualification under the NSLP expires at the end of the current school year. Students invited to Adventures under the NSLP during the Spring enrollment period will need to update their income eligibility in August 2023 to determine their qualification for the 2024 Summer Adventures program and 2024-2025 Extended Day program.

Please check the website regularly for the most updated information.
