What do we mean when we say college?

College can be many things. Think of it as "What do I need to know and understand to be able to do my dream job?"

The institution could be a Technical School, Community College, Public College or University, Private College or University.

Why might you consider college?

By 2020, 65 percent of all jobs in the economy will require post-secondary education and training beyond high school.

Having a 2 or 4 year college degree or certificate can make you a more competitive candidate in the job application process.

College graduates have more career opportunities and career mobility.

Having a degree also increases your potential income, allowing you and your future family to live a comfortable life.

What questions to consider when applying to college...

Location: Is the city or town that the college is located in one that you would like living in? Is or isn't it, location an important factor in your college decision?

Room: Is dorm life an experience you are looking for in a college environment?

Major: Does the school have the major you want and is the program sufficient? If not, is there a similar major offered?

Price: Is the school within your price range or worth going into debt over? Are they offering you scholarships and/or grants if you go there?
