You can take college courses at the Community College of Aurora for free as long as you qualify, and you will get college credits as well as high school credits. If you start early enough, you can even graduate high school with an Associate's Degree.
In order to qualify for CCA courses, you will need to:
Create a MyCCA account and get an S Number (a CCA student number)
Apply and get an S number here: https://ccaurora.elluciancrmrecruit.com/Apply/Account/Create
Be sure to save your S Number; you will need it for everything CCA-related
Test into classes
Get good grades in math and English courses in high school
Get good scores on the SAT and/or the ACT
Or take the Accuplacer tests in English and math
Meet with your counselor and fill out paperwork
Attend an orientation at CCA
Be responsible for your own transportation to and from CCA
Pass your course(s) with a C or better (otherwise you will have to pay for the course)
There are a number of courses you can take as a concurrent enrollment student, but they have to be Guaranteed Transfer courses, so that the credits will transfer to any public four-year college in the state of Colorado, including the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, the University of Northern Colorado, and Metro State University of Denver.
Start with MAT 121 - College Algebra and/or ENG 121 - English Composition
Once you've passed MAT 121, you can take any GT Math or Science course.
Once you've passed ENG 121, you can take any GT English, Humanities, Social Studies, or Arts course.
You will be taking courses at the Community College of Aurora. They have two campuses, one in Lowry and one behind the Delany Farm on Alameda and Chambers.
