Classes are structured times where all learners are working on the same content. Labs are open to all learners to work on the content they need to work on. Your schedule will primarily be Labs.
Your first meeting at AACE with the Pre-CASAS assessment. This gives us an idea of what knowledge you already have. When you reach a certain number of hours, we will ask you to complete a Post-CASAS assessment that shows us what you have learned here. If you do not attend for 90 days you will have to re-Pre-CASAS.
What is Adult Education like?
How are traditional school and adult education similar? How are they different? This comparison will help give you a clearer idea of what you can expect in your classes/labs at AACE:
Adult Education
Weekly Schedule
At AACE most programs allow the learner to select the dates and times that work for them. Select classes based on individual preferences: morning, afternoon, or evening.
Homework
Each teacher will have a different expectation for work done outside the classroom. Know that in most cases, you are able to complete this work during a lab time.
Time Management
Unlike in a traditional school, YOU will be responsible for your time management. We give you the resources to learn and guide you through your education, but you are in charge of your education.
Grades
Most of our programs are standards based. Ask your about their standards, and how you can meet them.
Attendance
Attendance is not mandatory, however we do expect communication. The more you attend the quicker you will be to reaching your goals.
Communication
Communicate with us if you aren't able to attend labs, you need to reschedule, your contact information changed, you need a resource etc. We expect communication and by communicating you are helping yourself succeed.
