Course Descriptions
COURSE DESCRIPTION GUIDE: Program of Studies
The WMHS Course Description Guide is prepared to assist students and parents with course selections and with long-term educational/career planning. Students and parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with this publication and to use it as a resource guide. School counselors, in collaboration with parents and teachers, assist each student in planning a program of study and in selecting courses for the next school year. In addition to required courses, this course guide contains a complete list of electives offered at Wilson Memorial High School. While graduation requirements are certainly a necessary part of this document, keep in mind that they are minimum requirements. It is important that students take full advantage of the course offerings at WMHS to prepare them for the demanding future that awaits each of them. Universities, colleges, military institutions, technical schools, and employers are seeking students who are lifelong learners. To accomplish this mission, all students must access and develop an academic foundation that supports a lifetime of learning, including essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors. To develop the skills and habits associated with lifelong learning, students must learn more than the simple recall of facts. Students must continually seek to challenge themselves and aspire to reach new goals on a continuous basis. It is our hope that all students will be successful and reach their full potential. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the School Counseling Office.
Sincerely,
WMHS Counseling Staff
