The PA Students of Augsburg University have access to a variety of volunteer activities during their didactic phase. Students are expected to get involved within the communities they want to serve by volunteering with these, or similar, local organizations who are providing care within the surrounding community.
Most organizations have links in order to learn more about how they run, as well as information for volunteering directly through them. Some sites, like the Health Commons and other places with special events will have links below, or separate correspondence for getting involved. This guide provides a brief introduction to each location, what volunteers may do, and is a living document with updates.
Check out which opportunity is right for you during your student-career here at Augsburg before you sign up!
Please submit your required hours to the tracking form when you are finished with each volunteer shift.
DPI CHEBPP students are required to get 5 hours for the Fall Semester
Check out the current summer schedule. Links to the sign ups are located below on the site with the location descriptions.
This program was started and is primarily run through PAEA in order to develop curiosity and provide information to students (primarily middle school and high school) who are in underrepresented communities.
Current PA students go out and provide information about what a PA is, what they do, and how to become one. This is often a good career choice for students who may have budget and time concerns but wish to provide healthcare to their own community.
PAEA provides the toolkits and students will work with staff/faculty and previous cohorts to reach out to schools and set up times for presentations.
This opportunity is available for ALL PA students.
Each year during National PA week, there is a competition for Project Access that we encourage our students to participate in and get creative with presenting career options for the next generation!
Students are encouraged to take the initiative for this project, but reach out to olsenkat@augsburg.edu to get connected with prior cohorts for resources and connections.
First Year PA Students will need to be oriented with Footcare and Women of Nations before attending.
