Surrounded by the neighborhoods of Seward, Philips, Riverside, and more; this area is rich with a wide range of cultures, historical significance, and provides valuable community connection for residents and visitors alike.
While the neighborhoods are a great place to get settled into to get some immersion with the culture around you, the PA program will be your main focus for the next 27 months.
Below are some spaces for you to take care of your health and your studies as you build a new routine. Learn a little more about each area, the transportation, and get a taste of what parts of the neighborhood you can contribute to as a student!

Seward is located just south of I-94, and expands from the Mississippi to Hiawatha Avenue. While it's easy to bike through this area, there are plenty of public transportation options such as:
The community of Seward is gathering together to tie diverse backgrounds together with events such as "National Night Out" the Co-op Block Party, Winter Festival and more.

Augsburg University is located near the heart of Cedar-Riverside. Originally belonging to the Dakota people, it has become a hub for immigrants throughout the years. Nowadays it is primarily populated by East African residents and features a wide range of Somali cuisine, shopping, culture crossovers and more!
The neighborhood has a lot of walkability but public transit runs through as well. Here you can find some of the following community locations:
The Brian Coyle Community Center - provides programs for residents including food shelf, advocacy, career prep and more
Pillsbury House - A historic location with early education, tax assistance, and theatre opportunities for youth
The Cedar Cultural Center - hosts a wide range of community events with live music, entertainment, and more!
African Development Center - integral assistance provided for anyone looking to improve credit, buy a house, & more. Worth the stop-in if you are looking for resources & assistance!

Home to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, this area is full of mini-neighborhoods for students to adventure and live. Cedar-Riverside lies adjacent and is closely interconnected with these neighborhood amenities.
Dinkytown - Known for its wide range of restaurants, shopping centers, and live venues, this section of town is perfect for capturing that college-life feeling and upbeat living.
Como - Quieter and more nature-centered, this area has gardens, walkways, and the Como Zoo & Conservatory
East River / Prospect Park - Located close to the Allianz Stadium and the Metro Green Line, this is a great commuting location with broader access to St. Paul

If you need some care throughout the year (or for any TB test updates, vaccines, etc), The People's Center Clinic is right down the road from Augsburg. They have partnered with Augsburg to provide affordable care to students, and provides services year-round for uninsured Augsburg students with a $5 copay. For those of you who are insured, they accept most insurances.

The Health Commons are nursing and PA led centers that provide care to the community around them. The people who come to the Health Commons are from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many participants live on Minneapolis’s streets or are marginally housed. Everyone is welcome, and all services are provided free of charge. Health concerns might include blood pressure, nutrition, medication, social isolation, minor injuries, or chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. People frequently come to the Health Commons for its easy access, supportive environment, and assistance connecting to other healthcare resources.
As a PA student, you are able to sign up and attend the Health Commons located above (just a walk away) as well as at Central Lutheran, located in Downtown Minneapolis at Central Lutheran Church and at the Living Room, located in the Harrison Neighborhood.
