In line with the University of Auckland’s sustainability policy you are encourage to bring your own re-usable cups and water bottles, use public transport where possible (see below) and reduce waste on the day. To reduce paper, the programme is available digitally via the event website.
Public transport is usually the easiest and most cost effective way to travel to and from the venue. You can easily plan your journey using the Auckland Transport Journey planner (https://at.govt.nz/journey- planner) which will give you details of bus, train and ferry routes as well as times and fares. You can also get live updates on bus, train and ferry times using the AT mobile app (https://at.govt.nz/bus-train- ferry/more-services/mobile-services/) to make sure you aren’t delayed on the day. Please note, if you are planning on using a park and ride many of these can start to fill up as early as 6:00 a.m.
Cycling is a green option for those of you who can take advantage of Auckland’s numerous cycle paths. There are details of cycling and walking paths here https://at.govt.nz/cycling-walking/.
Driving may be necessary for those of you who need to go to your school before the day or who have family commitments straight after. Driving times to the city can vary hugely depending on traffic conditions so we recommend checking the estimated travel time before and on the day on Google maps. Parking options near the university include several Wilson’s carparks http://www.wilsonparking.co.nz/. They vary in price, and may fill up. The car park at 76-78 Symonds St (Whittaker Place) has an early bird rate of $16.00 per day arriving before 10am. The university car park under the Owen Glenn building is $25 a day until 5pm. It is a good idea to carpool and share this cost among your colleagues.
