Contact me via email at any time. I will get to you as soon as I can.
I use guided note packets with the course lessons. This allows students to focus more on the explanations during the examples rather than frantically trying to keep up copying the examples.
I use a daily Google Form to help with student - teacher communication. Watch for the daily Dad Joke as well as important announcements on the Google Form. Most importantly, if you have a homework question or if you need to share important personal information (going on a family trip or something) its easy to do so through the Google Form.

Auburn School District uses adopted math curriculum in accordance with Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements and Competency-Based Admissions Standards to prepare students for success in high school and beyond. Materials, lessons, and activities are carefully selected to support student learning, measure achievement, and demonstrate competence in math, technical writing, and technical skills. Special effort is taken to assure students are meeting benchmarks through demonstration, application, and communication of knowledge as part of their course grade. In addition, commitment to quality, work habits, communication, citizenship, attendance and punctuality are considered essential components of the course grade.
Your grades are on the following weighted categories.
21 Century Skills: Binder checks & student skills (5% of overall grade)
Daily Work: Homework & Classwork (15% of overall grade)
Assessments: Quizzes, Tests, Projects & Exams (80% of overall grade)
A 92.5 – 100% C+ 77.5 – 79.9%
A- 90 – 92.4% C 72.5 – 77.4%
B+ 87.5 – 89.9% C- 70 – 72.4%

You will be expected to do quality work at all times.
Work is organized and easy to read.
Answers are thorough and complete. Assume the person that is checking your work has limited knowledge.
Work and answers show that you put forth your best effort.
You will need to attend class regularly to participate in discussions, note taking, completion of example problems, homework assignments and concept projects. Class activities may or may not be made up, depending on the assignment. If you are absent, you risk missing out on important and relevant classroom instruction, discussion and example problems. You are expected to complete the assigned homework promptly.
Homework: Homework will be assigned on the website Big Ideas. Due dates will be shown in the assignment. Late work is accepted at a reduced score. Late work may not be accepted for a unit if we have moved on to the next unit. See me if you feel that you deserve an exception.
Quizzes: Quizzes will be conducted frequently. My quizzes are used as a formative assessment and are used to guide differentiated instruction. The quizzes also expose students to what could be on the Chapter/Unit Test. My quizzes will also be used to assess the student’s mastery and growth. There are no Quiz make up or retakes.
Tests: A Test will be conducted at the end of each Chapter/Unit. My tests are used as a formative assessment and are used to guide differentiated instruction. The tests also expose students to what could be on the Final Exam (summative assessment). My tests will also be used to assess the student’s mastery and growth. Missed tests must be made up during CORE-Choice, or before/after school. You may retake two tests per semester (85% max retake score).
Quarter Exams: The quarter exam will be cover the unit lessons relevant for that quarter. The purpose of the exam is to assess student mastery of the material covered during the term (summative assessment). The concepts assessed on the exam will correspond with concepts assessed on the tests conducted that quarter (study the tests).
Each student is expected to:
Be inside the classroom when the bell rings, or you are tardy.
Have your book, clean paper, and pencil with you each day. Sharpen before class.
When the teacher starts talking or if a student who has the floor is talking, YOU STOP TALKING.
When talking to your neighbor, monitor your volume. Do not talk across the classroom. If your neighbor is talking too loud, ask them to keep it down. Let’s help each other out.
When given time to work in class, do the assignment or risk getting a longer assignment.
Work until the end of the period. It only takes half a minute to pack up.
No eating food or chewing gum during class. Bottled water OK * Until it becomes a distraction or gets messy *
Keep electronics out of sight. If they become a distraction, they will be confiscated. Turn off cell phones.
AMHS policies apply in this classroom.
Cheating is any attempt to circumvent the evaluation process, such as by:
Looking at another student’s paper
Communicating with other students
Accessing notes or other resources, not approved by the instructor
Plagiarism
Consequences for cheating:
1st offense: Redo work, teacher-student conference, and parent contact.
2nd offense: Redo work, and parent-teacher-student conference.
3rd offense: Redo work, removal from class (possibly), and written parent notification.
The student is responsible for staying caught up while absent. Assignment lists and calendars will be issued at the beginning of each month and are available on-line on my swift website (see top of front page).
Assignments that were due during the absence are due upon returning from an absence.
Missed tests must be made up outside of class time.
You are responsible for pursuing missed worksheets or handouts.
If the student is more than 10 minutes late to class, it will be considered an unexcused absence. Late students will not be admitted without a teacher note or office admit slip.
