My "word" for the year: Relax
About me:
My teaching career started in 1997 at Tyee High School in the Highline school district. After 5 years there I transferred to Auburn Riverside then Auburn Mountainview when it opened in 2005. Back in 2001, I started teaching part-time at Green River College (retired from Green River College at the end of 2019), typically I taught 1 to 2 evening classes per quarter. I have taught remedial math, algebra, geometry, advanced algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus at the high school level. At Green River, I taught beginning algebra, intermediate algebra, pre-calculus, math in society, and finite math.
Prior to being an educator I served in the United States Navy for eight years. This included two years of training in Nuclear Power schools, three years on the USS Michigan (Trident submarine) as a"Nuke" machinist mate, and three years as an instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston, SC.
My education to become a teacher includes a Bachelors of Arts degree in Math Education at Central Washington University and a Masters of Arts degree in Math Education also through Central Washington University.
My hope is to provide a safe and friendly place for your student to learn math, and prepare them for a life after high school (whether it be college, trade school, armed forces, or the work force).
Sedona, Arizona.
Spent the summer of 1983 on this river.
Charleston, South Carolina
Lived there for three years. Loved everything about it except the cockroaches.
Sol Duc Hot Springs in the Olympic Rain Forest.
All cruise ships are awesome, but Disney cruise ships are by far the best.
Weekend getaways with the family are frequently to Port Townsend, WA.
I grew up in Chimacum, Washington, so of course I'm a big fan of the Mariners, the Seahawks, and the Sonics. The Sonics in the 70's were awesome.
