Social Emotional Learning

Dear Parents,

During this time of closure we wanted to provide you some strategies to support your student's social emotional learning, or SEL. SEL is a process for helping children (of any age) develop fundamental skills for life effectiveness. SEL teaches the skills we all need to handle ourselves, our relationships, and work effectively and ethically. These skills include:

  • Self-Awareness

  • Self-Management

  • Self-Efficacy

  • Social Awareness

  • Social Management, and

  • Social Engagement

Skills and concepts are integrated in academic lessons and practiced to enhance the climate of the school. During this time of school closure, we encourage parents to reinforce SEL skills as well.

A key partner in our school district is Second Step. This organization has made their programs available to families for free through June 30th.
