High School Seniors

The Auburn School District is working to ensure every eligible senior has the opportunity to graduate. Auburn teachers build on each student's strengths, interests, and needs and use this knowledge to positively impact learning.

This page will be updated as information evolves.

Graduation Ceremonies

Although schools will remain closed through the end of the year, graduating and getting your diploma will happen provided you were on track already. Auburn School District continues to plan for a traditional graduation ceremony for seniors in June; however, we understand a large gathering in celebration might not be possible. Currently, graduation ceremonies are scheduled to go on as planned.

High School Graduation Requirements

  1. Complete Credits

  2. Meet proficiency through a Graduation Pathway

  3. Complete the High School and Beyond Plan

Options for High School credit bearing courses

Students who are actively engaged during closure and continue to work through assignments provided by their teacher through the end of the school year and earn a letter grade and 0.5 credits per class. The final letter grade must be equal to or higher than quarter 3. Use *No Count on assignments for individual students that experience technology issues or are unable to access the content due to extenuating circumstances. In consultation with their counselor, individual students may transition to a Pass/No Credit option by course.

In extenuating circumstances, the following could be applied.

  1. For students in extenuating circumstances that need alternative options, students (in certain subjects) can access Competency Based Credit. Students demonstrate comprehensive skills through a proctored final test or demonstration of skills and earn in total 0.5 credits per class. Students courses will be posted in 2 separate sections (0.25 for Quarter 3 and 0.25 for the competency based credit). See Board Policy/Procedure 2410.2 for additional details.

  2. For the class of 2020, students facing unusual hardship can apply for the 20 Credit Waiver and/or the COVID-19 Waiver. Please note, waiving credit can have detrimental impacts towards students post-secondary choices. Students may not be able to enroll in University, they may not be able to earn the Tech-Prep credits taken, and they may not be eligible for NCAA.

  3. Students who are not engaged at all in 4th quarter, and fails to submit evidence of new learning as outlined above, the quarter 3 grade will be posted as the final grade and the student will only earn 0.25 credits. If a student can demonstrate they have mastered the knowledge and skills through passing a higher level course in future terms the student can recapture the 0.25 credit.
