What are we learning?
I love teaching about artists and the history of their work as well as types of art, techniques and connecting art to students.
Most assignments will be due on Fridays to make it easy to remember. If a student misses class then it is their responsibility to make up work. Assignments are posted in Google classroom. I have tutorial times available for students to come in and work.
Per district's policy on late work: students get 1 day extra per the amount of days a student misses. Late work is accepted within a 9 weeks but following district's policy, 1 day late is 10 points off and so on.
Summative or "test grades" are allowed to be redone if a student scores below a 70. The replacing grade will be no higher than a 70. Replacing the grade must be requested by the student and must be done within that grading period.
Here is a visual for what students need to complete each 3 weeks. 1 assignment of their choice is due every Friday. On the 3rd Friday, all 4 assignments (3 daily and 1 test grade) are due. For those students who finish early, can work on their technique folder. The technique folder is due at the end of the 9 weeks and is graded as a daily grade.
In Art 2, the poster report is where students will write a paragraph about one of the two artists of the week including where they are from, birth and death (if available) dates, what style of art and time period of art and then any interesting facts. They will include several images the artist created with the names of them. They are learning graphic design on canva.com
Edit as of 9/20: All art will be one assignment as a whole class going forward
