Youth Court receives a write up from an AP and gives respondent a parental consent form. They have 48 hours to get it signed.
We make a case around the write up and the clerk starts the paperwork.
The student and school advocates talk to the student and teacher to get their sides of the story.
Jurors are selected from students in our class, students outside of our class that have signed up for it, or students given jury duty as a disposition.
We schedule the hearing, usually for a Thursday.
We hold the hearing and the jury gives the respondent a disposition that they have to complete.
The respondent completes their disposition with help from their case manager.
We close the case and the AP takes the offense off of the students record.
