Restorative Justice is an approach to justice that focuses on relationships, respect, and responsibility. All impacted parties are involved and it helps fix the relationships between them. Restorative Justice encourages taking accountability by addressing the needs of everyone involved.
Why is this important?
Gets the victim and/or community involved to restore the harm done, rather than solely punishing the offender with no compensation to the community.
Prevents minor offenses from permanently tainting people’s records.
Gives offenders a second chance to change their ways so the community can be a better place for all.
