Behavior Expectations

Behavior Expectations

Classroom Rule – “Treat others as you want to be treated.” This encompasses all possible rules and expectations.

Rewards:

Students are rewarded for positive behavior as a class. This builds cooperation and community among the class. We have a classroom bucket that gets filled with "water drops" every time we receive a compliment as a class from myself and other teachers. When our classroom bucket is full, students vote for their "Bucket Bonus" prize.

Consequences:

Individual student behavior is monitored in the classroom. Students will be redirected when behavior interferes with their learning.

I am a huge proponent of learning from your mistakes.

Working together is the best way your child can have a successful year!

Bucket Filling:

Below are 4 wonderful books that we start every school year with. These books encourage positive behavior by using the concrete concept of an 'invisible bucket' that holds your good thoughts and feelings. When you do something kind, you fill someone's bucket, while also filling your own too because it makes us feel good to do nice things for others! When you do something mean, you dip into someone's bucket and remove some good thoughts and feelings.

There are also other great books that go along with the bucket filling topic. I highly recommend for you to look into these books. They have a great message that goes beyond the classroom setting!
