AHS Registration for classes 2026-2027.
Separate from choosing classes, families complete the district's "rollover" online registration in JMC each year. If your student attended ACSD last year and was still enrolled on the last day of school:
Log in to the JMC Parent Portal.
Click Register for 2026-2027 and start or continue the registration process to verify your student's information.
View your Lunch Account and make a payment if needed.
View Tuition/Fees and pay student fees.
Check Downloadable Links for forms such as the Athletic Physical Form, district calendar and school supply lists.
Complete the JMC Online Free/Reduced Meal Form, if it applies to you.
Rural families: complete the Transportation Request Form.
Call the AHS office at 712-243-5358 to make an enrollment appointment.
What you will need:
Records from your previous school: transcript, current grades for classes in progress, attendance, discipline and immunization records, and any 504, IEP, ELL, health or behavior plans
Registration papers turned in to the registrar, using the student's legal name, plus date-of-birth documentation: Registration Packet (available in your home language), Proof of Residency, Free/Reduced Lunch application (online), Foster Care and Vehicle Registration forms if they apply, and Open Enrollment if applicable
Meeting with your counselor: once the paperwork is in, the registrar sets up a meeting for the student, family and counselor to go over the class schedule (lunch, Period 9/Legion, PE and study hall A/B days), the daily and Wednesday bell schedules, a building tour, sports and clubs, transportation and your first day
No internet access? Stop by the AHS office (open 7:30 am to 3:30 pm) and staff will help you register and pay fees on paper.
Atlantic supports families who choose homeschooling (competent private instruction) through the district's Home School Assistance Program (HSAP). HSAP gives families support from licensed teachers with curriculum planning, instruction and the state paperwork. The program follows ACSD Board Policy 604.09 and Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 281—31.
Thinking about homeschooling, or coming to AHS from homeschool? Start by meeting with the HSAP staff and AHS administration. They'll walk you through credit recognition, graduation options and dual enrollment before you decide.
HSAP contacts: Tina Olson, HSAP Coordinator (tolson@atlanticiaschools.org), and Cara Andersen, HSAP (caraandersen@atlanticiaschools.org). Phone: 712-243-3535 ext. 6610.
Dual enrollment (taking some things at AHS): By completing Form A with HSAP (due to the district by the state deadline, September 1 each year), homeschool students can dual enroll at AHS for:
Specific AHS classes, including IWCC college courses and Trojan Forge
Special education services, if applicable
Sports, clubs, dances and other activities
Dual-enrolled students are part-time AHS students. They must follow all AHS academic, attendance, behavior and activity policies, and they earn AHS credit only for the AHS classes they are formally enrolled in.
Credits and the AHS diploma:
Only credits earned through an accredited school or program (for example, an accredited online program such as Acellus Academy) count toward an AHS diploma. Credits from non-accredited homeschool programs are not accepted.
Students returning from homeschool get a transcript and credit review. Bring official transcripts, course descriptions and assessment records.
To earn an AHS diploma, a student must re-enroll at AHS full time for senior year and have enough accredited credits to meet AHS and Iowa graduation requirements. Students who only take non-accredited homeschool courses graduate with a homeschool diploma, not an AHS diploma.
AHS students can take Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) classes and earn college credit while in high school. Tuition is paid by the district during the regular school year, so these classes are free to students. IWCC grades count on both your high school transcript and GPA and your college transcript and GPA.
Go to iwcc.edu → at the top, click High School: College Early Start → click Dual Enroll.
New students: Make a new account. Once your account is created, you can sign up for classes.
Returning students: Log in, make sure your profile is up to date, then enroll in your classes.
Read, understand, and return the signed IWCC Student/Parent Agreement (get it from the Counseling Office). You will not be enrolled without a parent/guardian signature.
Read and understand the placement requirements and course list below.
Fill out the IWCC High School Student application. (See above for new students Dual Enroll.) If you don't, you may not be registered for classes.
Attend at least one IWCC orientation.
Students must be proficient in all areas of the ISASP and meet one of the placement requirements for the course. (Approved by AHS and IWCC 03/12/25.)

IWCC is a separate college with its own rules. Your professor assigns work, grades, and answers questions about your class.
Check Canvas and your syllabus for due dates. Late work is generally not accepted. Deadlines are deadlines.
Email your professor when you have questions, are struggling, or will be absent.
Counselors only see IWCC grade updates every 5 weeks and cannot see missing work in Canvas.
Your college GPA starts with these classes. Financial aid usually requires at least a 2.0 college GPA.
Credits may not transfer to every college. Keep your syllabi and check with the colleges you are considering.
Know the last day to drop or withdraw without penalty.
After graduation, request your IWCC transcript be sent to your college.
