College Planning

Preparing for College

A college education is an investment in yourself and your future. Your high school years are an important time for planning and preparing for college. What you do during these four years (including that last exam as a senior) will impact your future. Admission standards vary from college to college. Colleges decide if they want you as a student based on your academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and other accomplishments. The sooner you begin planning, the easier it will be to achieve your education goals.

Consider these thoughts:

Taking just the minimum classes needed to graduate from high school may not be enough to get into college.

There is a difference in what classes you need to take to be accepted at a college and what you need to succeed.

The actual classes you will be required to take to get admitted will vary according to which college you choose, what degree you are seeking and your major course of study. If you aren't sure where you want to go or what you want to do, plan on a college preparation course load.
