Does Connect work only in Atlanta?
The radio will work beyond the jurisdictional borders of the City of Atlanta, however usership and ownership of the device should have pertinent ties to the jurisdictional borders of the City of Atlanta. APD dispatch will not relay requests for support or response to other jurisdictions. Connect is intended only for use with the Atlanta Police Department.
Does my Connect radio replace the need for calling 911?
No. Although the Connect radio network is patched into the Atlanta 911 center and a dispatcher is assigned to monitor it, we always recommend calling 911 to ensure the most timely response in emergency situations.
My Connect radio is making a steady tone and I don't know why?
Connect radios are generally programmed to function only on your radios channel 1. Cycle your radio to channel 1 and look to see if the visual display says "D1 COMNET". The tone generally only occurs when the radio is cycled to an "unprogrammed " channel and it should go away once it it cycled back to the dedicated/programmed Connect channel.
If you hear a steady tone when you press the transmit button AND your radio display says "D1 COMNET", then your radio is not active on the Connect system. This can only be corrected by contacting the Atlanta Police Foundation.
