Laudato Si Immersion
The Office of Student Activities, in partnership with the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Ignatian Spirituality Formation, spearheaded the Laudato Si’ Immersion at Alon and Araw in Cabangan, Zambales, held on March 21–22, 2026.
This overnight immersion offered participants a meaningful encounter with both community and creation. Activities included engagements with local residents, a guided tour of the eco-village, and orientations on Alon and Araw’s sustainability initiatives while highlighting their reduce, reuse, and recycle practices, eco-lumber production, and community partnerships. The experience was further enriched by a beach clean-up, service workshops, moments of reflection, spiritual conversations, and a shared liturgy.
Anchored on the theme of becoming one with nature and community, the immersion created space for deeper connection with self, with God, with others, and with our common home. It is with renewed hope that these encounters continue to inspire a more profound commitment to care, stewardship, and integral ecology.

An afternoon well spent getting to know inspiring individuals such as Toto Malvar who have devoted their lives to conserving the Upper Marikina Watershed through ecotourism and community-building with the Dumagat community. This activity also gave students a chance to immerse themselves in the reserve’s lush forestry potting seedlings, while some participated in the river walk for a mini clean-up activity.
