7th Grade Course Overview
In this 10-week Digital Art course, students will explore the foundations of design and creative expression through digital tools. We’ll combine design principles with hands-on projects in graphic design, branding, and photography. Students will learn to create original digital artwork while developing skills in creativity, problem-solving, and professional presentation.

8th Grade Course Overview
In this 10-week Digital Art course, students will build upon the knowledge they gained in 7th grade Digital Art. Students will be challenged to think independently, experiment, and pay attention to the world around them and how design is used to communicate a message. Students will also expand their photography skills, create logos for a local business and put all projects together in a final culminating Digital Portfolio. Students who are still interested in Design are encouraged to pursue the Digital Art and Media CTE Pathway at Atascadero High School.

Week 1: Analyzing Design Trends and Replicating through Product Design
Week 2: Digital Illustration with ProCreate
Week 3: Personal Brand Development
Week 4: Redesigning an Iconic Work: Movie Poster, Record, or Book Cover
Week 5: Advanced Photography Focus - Natural Lighting Photography
Week 6: Advanced Photography Focus - Studio Lighting Portraiture, and Advertising
Weeks 7–8: Design a Logo and Advertising Campaign for a Local Business
Week 9: Industrial Design Unit: Custom Car Design
Week 10: Final Portfolio Development and Reflection
Expectations
Computer Use: Devices are for classwork only. Misuse will result in warnings, parent contact, and possible loss of computer privileges.
Behavior: We keep it fun, but respectful. Positive participation and collaboration are expected.
Appropriate Artwork Only: All projects must be school-appropriate. No weapons, profanity, controversial/disturbing/inappropriate imagery, or anything violating school policy.
Collaboration & Respect: Support classmates, give constructive feedback, and treat the classroom like a creative studio.
