My classrooms are creative studios. Whether we are designing, writing, photographing, performing, collaborating, or creating something entirely new, I expect every student to contribute to a classroom where people feel safe, respected, included, and proud of their work.

🎨 CREATE WITH PURPOSE

Take your work seriously—even when we're having fun. I expect students to put forth their best effort, meet deadlines, follow directions, and create work that demonstrates growth, creativity, and attention to detail.

💙 RESPECT THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Everyone has a different voice, style, background, and level of experience. Respect other people's ideas and creative work. Give constructive feedback, celebrate different perspectives, and never make fun of someone's work, performance, ideas, or abilities.

🤝 PARTICIPATE & COLLABORATE

These classes are active and collaborative. Students are expected to participate, contribute to group projects, help classmates, and be willing to try—even when something feels outside their comfort zone. We can experiment and make mistakes while still treating one another with kindness.

💻 USE TECHNOLOGY RESPONSIBLY

Computers, iPads, cameras, lighting equipment, and other technology are provided for learning and creative work. Devices should be used only for class-related purposes unless permission is given otherwise. Misuse may result in a warning, parent/guardian contact, and/or loss of technology privileges.

🎭 KEEP IT SCHOOL-APPROPRIATE

All artwork, writing, photography, performances, designs, and other projects must follow school expectations. No weapons, profanity, inappropriate or disturbing imagery, hateful content, or material that violates school policy. Creative freedom does not mean freedom from responsibility.

⏰ MEET DEADLINES

Deadlines matter because our work often connects to the work of others. Students are responsible for keeping track of assignments and submitting their best work on time.

Late Work Policy: Late work may be accepted for up to two weeks after the original due date. After two weeks, the assignment will no longer be accepted and will remain a missing assignment.

📊 HOW I GRADE

Grades reflect learning, effort, participation, craftsmanship, and completion of the assigned expectations—not artistic talent alone. Rubrics and project criteria will be provided when appropriate so students understand what quality work looks like.

I do not expect every student to be the "best" artist, writer, designer, photographer, or performer. I do expect every student to challenge themselves, use feedback, make an honest effort, and continue growing.
