Meet Jenna – Founder, therapist, resource queen & chaos coordinator
Jenna Mahoney is the founder and Executive Director of At Ease Counseling and the visionary behind At Ease Wellness Collective. What began as a solo private practice has grown into a collaborative mental health practice dedicated to providing exceptional trauma-informed care while mentoring the next generation of clinicians.
Jenna’s journey to counseling began in education. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Messiah University and teaching for several years, she realized her passion was helping children and families on a deeper level. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University in 2012 and, after working in community mental health, founded At Ease Counseling in 2016 with the goal of creating a place where people feel seen, understood, and empowered to heal.
Her own experience navigating postpartum anxiety and OCD led her to specialize in perinatal mental health early in her career and continues to shape her authentic, compassionate approach to therapy. Today, Jenna works with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, OCD, nervous system dysregulation, relationship challenges, and life transitions, helping clients understand how past experiences influence present-day patterns and build lasting change.
Jenna is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the Trauma Specialists Training Institute and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) through the Cognitive Behavioral Institute. She is also passionate about providing neurodiversity-affirming care, tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique strengths, experiences, and way of engaging with the world.
Clients often describe Jenna as warm, honest, and deeply invested in their growth. Around the office she’s affectionately known as the “Resource Queen” for her love of connecting clients with books, tools, providers, and practical supports that extend beyond the therapy room.
Today, Jenna’s vision extends beyond therapy. Through clinician mentorship, internship programs, community education, and interdisciplinary collaboration, she is building a wellness community where clients, professionals, and future clinicians can learn, grow, and thrive together.
Outside of work, Jenna enjoys traveling with her husband, Patrick, and their two adventurous daughters. Whether she’s planning the next family adventure, dreaming up new ideas for At Ease, or searching for the perfect local coffee shop, she’s always looking for ways to foster connection and help others feel a little more at ease.
(Fun fact: If you ask her about mental health, travel, or the best local coffee spots, she will talk your ear off. Consider yourself warned!) ☕😆
