It is the goal of the American School of Valencia to model and teach ethical and responsible use of technology to students and parents.
The policy for the use of technology at ASV must support the school’s educational goals, while ensuring the online safety of all and maintaining a secure telecommunications network.
Come prepared to your designated learning space with all the tools you will need for a safe and productive online learning session
Make sure you have access to all the necessary apps
Keep a positive working spirit!!
Act responsibly with the technology you use
Be sure to leave a positive digital footprint. This means modelling positive behavior, collaborating effectively with your peers, doing your own work, and citing your sources (giving credit to other people’s work).
Keep your name, address, school, age, etc. private.
Don’t broadcast your location, send photos to strangers, or share passwords with friends.
If someone’s getting bullied or picked on, speak up, report it, or reach out.
Respect yourself and others when online. Think before you post any pictures, documents, or comments
Be kind. Always write positive and constructive comments to your peers, and communicate with them and your teachers using appropriate language, as if you were talking to the person face-to-face
Remember: There’s someone else on the other side of the screen.
Engage in learning in an online environment. Being an engaged learner online means you are not distracted by other media
It means you are thinking critically while engaging in your tasks
If you need to conduct your own research to find your own texts, you know how to recognize credible sources.
Just because it’s online doesn’t make it is true
