September 17 is the last day to apply for a fall internship.
Original end date listed on the SCAI CPT application (not the CPT I-20)
New end date
Academic justification for the extension
The new end date cannot be later than December 12,2026 for graduating students and January 10, 2027 for continuing
Students must have a valid academic justification for the extension. Extending CPT for reasons relating to pay or employer need are not acceptable.
It is important to save the email approval from SCAI Advising in case questions arise in the future.
All students approved for a CPT extension should check that the new end date falls within the end date listed on the I-20.
Generally, non-thesis master's students need approval from SCAI Advising (scai.grad.cpt@asu.edu) only, and do not also need to email ISSC.
Thesis/dissertation students will typically need an updated I-20 and should also email issc.employment@asu.edu with the proof of approval of the extension from SCAI Advising. Then ISSC will work to issue an updated I-20. It is important for students to receive the I-20 extension before proceeding to work beyond the original end date.
