Sayres Group

In 2023, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. After visiting Arizona in 2019, I quickly fell in love with the state. Throughout high school and college, I also developed a passion for chemistry. Combining these interests, I began my Ph.D. at Arizona State University in 2024. I am currently studying the effects of microsolvation on small amino acids using ultrafast spectroscopy. Outside of the lab, I enjoy baking, exploring Arizona, and spending time in nature.

I moved from Michigan to Arizona in 2025 after graduating from Wayne State University with a B.S. in Honors Biochemistry and Chemical Biology. My undergraduate research in THz-TDS and Raman spectroscopy sparked my interest in physical chemistry, especially ultrafast spectroscopy. Now in the Sayres Group, my research focuses on the ultrafast laser photophysics of gas-phase clusters, using pump-probe spectroscopy under vacuum to investigate their electronic excited states and reaction dynamics. Outside of the lab, I enjoy hiking, seeing live music, and hanging out with my friends.

I earned my undergraduate Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from ASU and am now working towards my PhD by discovering how materials can change with every atom at the molecular scale.  I am addicted to running, coffee and chess. 

I received my Bachelors of Science in Physics with a minor in Chemistry from ASU. I have always loved the intersection of Physics and Chemistry and find the research of physical chemistry a great place to further my understanding. When I'm not in the lab I love to play Dungeons & Dragons and draw.
