In the first part of the assignment, you will do informal brainstorming. First, note down 2-3 local issues or problems in your community. This could include
1st issue: Homeless criss
2nd issue: inflation and high gas prices
3. CA housing criss
Next, compose and post a 2-3-paragraph discussion post that responds to the following:
Problem: Based on what you have found out so far, which problem are you leaning towards analyzing? Why? Make sure it is not one of the prohibited topics.
Problem:
CA has the highest taxes in the nation and the highest gas prices in the country but yet we cannot afford to live in California. The high gas tax is pushing many California budgets to shrink and 1 in 3 families in our state cannot make ends meet because their government is too greedy to stop taking them.. In California Today more than 4 million people are below the poverty line and are making very little money to survive. CA high taxes have forced a lot of people to live on the streets of shame and suffer with mental illness and drug addiction and the reason why they are on the streets is because they cannot afford the basic needs to live in the state of California.
Community: In which community does this problem occur? Why is it a problem for this community?
Community:
The community that this problem does incur would be in Los Angeles and Orange County. The Problem for this community is many families could not afford some of the basic needs to live in CA. They have to choose from food to paying rent and or filling up their tanks. When government workers in California struggle to make ends meet they sometimes have to think whenever to purchase baby formula or keep up with high gas prices.
Stakeholder: Who in your community would want to know about this problem? Why would it be necessary to inform this audience about it? How do the causes OR effects of the problem impact their life?
Stakeholders:
The stakeholders that I would be using in this project would be local elected officials, CA state leaders and political party groups. I would first ask Carl Demio to talk about why california is so expensive and how poliations cannot stop taxing us and asking us for more money. Next, the stakeholders that I would ask would be CA state leaders such as legestiatiors, governor, attorney general and many other people to talk about why CA is facing some of the high cost of living. Then, I would go and ask political groups such as the CAGOP and talk with them about why CA has the highest costs and how Families can face even more tax burden in the future.

First, find a real-world example of your chosen genre for Project 1 (either a report or an article in a community newsletter). You can use the ASU library, internet search engines, or Google Scholar for help.
As you choose an example, keep in mind that the content of the example does not need to be related to the topic of your project.
Realwrod example:
Another example for the real world could be CA high homeless criss and how many homeless people have some sort of mental illness. Many of the homeless face some sort of illness and could not find hope.

https://calmatters.org/newsletters/whatmatters/2022/01/california-homeless-crisis-election/
Next, compose a 2-3 paragraphs post that responds to the following questions about your genre example, using specific examples to detail your answer.
Describe the example you chose : Who is the author of the piece? Where does it come from? Who is the intended audience for the piece?
The example that I would choose from an article that addresses the homeless is the CA crissess. The author of this article comes from calmatters, an organization that talks about the homeless crisis in California and how it's getting worse. The author of the piece is Jay kang who became at odds on the mental illness that was happening and how they would fix that. The intended audience would be the people who are reading the
Explain the “external” (design) conventions: How does the example use formatting, design, multimodal elements, etc. to appeal to the audience or help the audience understand the material in a specific way?
The example that is used to describe about and use it in a specific way. For example, the homeless criss photo by Emiliy shows a lot of homeless people that are on the streets and the human waste on the streets. The multimodal elements that I explained earlier were all the long lines of homeless people that could be sleeping on the streets. That picture helps the audience to understand the dark side of this homeless criss. This example uses the tone, tone, style, level of formality, diction, language choices that appeals to the audience. An example of that would be the CA homeless criss and how homeless people could use language choice and the tone to see how and why they were upset that they could not find a home.
In 1-2 paragraphs, answer the following questions about genre in your own project.
What is your own topic, community, and audience for Project 1? (Provide a brief explanation for your peers.)
My own topic that I will choose with the genre in my own project would be high housing costs and the rise in gas prices. The community that will be reading this essay could be my neigbors, friends and family. The audience in this essay would be the public that would read and see how the cost of living in California has affected so many people in today's society. The Specific ways that the elements that convent to my own example would be the high housing costs in CA. The convenations to my example in this essay would be the cost of living and how the homeless crisis was caused due to CA high cost of living.
Are there features of the genre that may not work for your audience and purpose? Why?
First, find a real-world example of your chosen genre for Project 2 (either an advocacy ad or a video PSA). You might find an example using internet search engines or through social media.
real-world example: CA cost of living and the high gas and real estate market.
As you choose an example, keep in mind that the content of the example does not need to be related to the topic of your project. https://abc7news.com/california-cost-of-living-real-estate-how-much-does-it-to-live-housing/10133015/
Next, in 2-3 paragraphs, analyze your chosen advocacy ad or a video PSA by responding to the following questions. Use specific examples to detail your answer.
Make sure to include the ad/PSA in your post by linking to it or pasting it into your response.
The audience that is the target in this would be the public who would see the cost of living and how it has shattered the CA Dream. The solution or action is the author trying to persuade the audience to identify the issue and research to come up with a solution to fix the problem that currently exists. The design elements that I would use for my argument will be images and font size as part of my essay. Lastly, the rhetorical strategies are logs, pathos, and ethos.
First, the logs in this essay in the PSA is a call to action, to address the rising gas prices and the cost of living in CA. In Calfiornia the call to action to address the rising costs of living has gained public attention the PSA in this seems to describe how bad how our great state is unaffordable and their government is too greedy to stop taxing them, which would only increase the cost of living as we see everything go up on this PSA ad and consistent to how our cost of living in the golden state has risen. The word pathos shows the emotional appeal because people are having a tough time making ends meet and they have a very hard time affording the basic necessities. This has to gain viewers because its shows how people are feeling the effect of high inflation and the highest gas prices in the nation. This Ad (ethos) gained viewers' attention to address how our cost of living has risen and how viewers can see why California is not an affordable place to live.
In 1-2 paragraphs, answer the following questions about how you will compose your own advocacy ad/PSA in Project 2.
In this PSA ad, you will discover how CA became an unaffordable place to live. The key takeaways from analyzing the example ad/PSA shows how CA is unaffordable and how we cannot afford to live. The design techniques and rhetorical strategies you hope to employ in the ad/PSA were about the emotional effect on how people cannot afford a place to live, and how it affects family budgets. The pitfalls might you avoid would be to use the rhetorical strategies that I have used to address the emotional issues that are happening in the golden state.
