Dr. Zoë Baker is the Director of Health Strategy within the Office of the Vice President of Research in the Knowledge Enterprise at Arizona State University. In her role, Zoë helps to support faculty conducting health research, connect with clinical partners, and engage with community organizations. Zoë is also passionate about maternal and child health, with previous experience in addressing barriers to treatment for birth-related complications in sub-Saharan Africa, identifying contraception uptake at a student health clinic, and overseeing clinical research among children receiving surgical care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
“Maggy Hovden (she/her) is a committed rights-based social work professional graduating from the University of Chicago with a Master of Social Work and concentration in Social Administration. With an academic background in global health studies, Spanish, and Latina/o/x studies from the University of Iowa, Maggy brings a global and intersectional perspective to her work. Her diverse experiences encompass clinical social work, public health research, and community-based service. Maggy completed an AmeriCorps term in 2022-2023 in Phoenix, AZ where she lived in a maternity home with seven mothers and their children and coordinated weekly events to build community. This transformative and immersive experience furthered her desire to become certified as a full spectrum doula and advocate for better maternal and child health outcomes, especially for underserved birthing populations. Maggy is passionate about advancing health equity by translating research into actionable insights and engaging diverse audiences through inclusive and impactful communication."
