Once the bell rings, students are in their seats working on the warmup posted in Google Classroom while Ms. Leighty takes attendance.
Students should either be writing in their ISN or recording their warmup answers on a Google Doc to submit at the end of the week
When done with the warmup, students should get out their ISN, note-taking supplies, and homework from the previous night
Homework should be out and ready for Ms. Leighty to stamp
Late assignments can be submitted in Google Classroom or turned in to Ms. Leighty up to one week before the quarter ends.
Students can use Google Classroom to submit late work
If submitting a photo of paper work, photo is clear and well-lit
Students turn in late work to Ms. Leighty
If turning in to Ms. Leighty, students have a sticky note on their work that includes name, class period, and assignment.
Absent work can be found in Google Classroom. Students are given due-date extensions for assignments missed during excused absences
Students check Google Classroom for notes, handouts, or assignments
When back in class, students check in with Ms. Leighty about concepts or other questions they have
When students need a calculator, they place their phone and ID in the corresponding pocket to check it out.
Students find the calculator pocket that matches the number on their desk and place their phone and ID inside
If students do not have a phone or their ID, they still need to leave something with Ms. Leighty in order to check out a calculator.
If a calculator is missing a battery, students will bring the calculator to Ms. Leighty to have the battery replaced.
At the start of class, the Iron Maiden will turn on all the irons to the correct setting for their station.
When done using the iron, students will lift the iron so that the hot plate is not on the ironing board
If their iron has a sillicone mat, students will place the iron there, hot plate on the mat.
Once a semester, students will be selected to clean the irons of any residue that may have accumulated on the hot plate.
At the end of class (or day depending on how fashion classes are clumped), the Iron Maiden will turn off all the irons at all stations. The Iron Maiden rotates through all students and changes weekly.
When using Ginghers, students will cut away from their body and hands, and return them to their basket once done.
Students will hold Ginghers by the blade and walk if moving elsewhere to cut fabric
Students will return Ginghers to their machine baskets and keep them away from the edge of the table to prevent dropping them
Once a semester, students will be selected to gather, oil, clean, and redistribute the Ginghers back to their correct baskets.
Once a semester, students will clean, oil, and change the needle on their machine.
Students will place all of the hardware and screws from their machines in bags while cleaning and oiling
Students will clean and organize their station baskets once their machine is clean, including restocking pins and ensuring that their basket has Ginghers, pins, a seam ripper, and two bobbins.
