Module Step: Final Task – Add Your Instructor Presence Video to Canvas
This final step walks you through embedding your YouTube video directly into your course page and making sure captions are available for students. This ensures students can access your introduction video easily, on any device, with accessibility features supported. A walk-through video is also provided to assist you in following the steps.
Open your uploaded video on the YouTube website.
Click Share button (under the video).
Select Embed.
Copy the full embed code by selecting Copy on the lower right of the pop-up window.
Navigate to your Canvas course.
In the left course menu, select Pages.
Choose an existing page or click + Page to create a new one.
Click Insert and choose Embed from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Embed the Video in Canvas
Paste the full embed code.
Select Submit.
Save or Publish your page.
Step 4 Student-View Check
Before moving on, verify your video works for students:
Open Student View (found in Course Settings or the right sidebar).
Open your page and check:
Does the video display correctly?
Does the audio play?
Does the CC button show your captions?
Does it work on mobile?
