Convocation is a special celebration with tradition and symbolism that dates back centuries in the history of higher education. “Convocation” means a gathering and, in academia, college and cultural convocations are a time for smaller groups to gather and celebrate educational achievements.
The College of Global Futures Convocation is an exclusive ceremony that individually recognizes college undergraduate and graduate candidates as they cross the stage to receive personal congratulations from administration, faculty, staff and guests.
What you need to know:
1:00 - Students graduating will check in. Bring your Sun Card to check in (a state issued ID will be accepted for online students who don't have a Sun Card). Doors also open at this time for guests - they can enter through the box office doors on the south side of the building.
2:00 - Ceremony start time
3:15 - Approximate ceremony end time.
RSVP is required for graduating students - You will be prompted to do so after completing the 1st step (see Start Here - First Step). All college convocations, special interest convocation events and both University Commencement events require an RSVP for participation. Students should register their guests and themselves through MarchingOrder. For information about special interest convocation activities, please contact the University Ceremonies Office.
RSVP for guests is required - If you are part of the graduate's party, the student will rsvp for you. If you are not part of their party, you can RSVP here.
Tickets - If tickets are required, we will notify the graduates and anyone that has rsvp'd by mid November.
Academic regalia - Academic regalia (caps and gowns) are required for all graduation events. See additional information about regalia.
Clear bag policy - Graduation venues are enforcing the clear bag policy. No large purses, bags or backpacks will be allowed into the building by anyone. All items that would be carried in a bag must be carried in a clear bag. Click here for more information on the policy.
Recognition - Graduates are recognized individually by name as they cross the stage, have a photo opportunity, and receive a diploma case to put their diploma (which is mailed after the ceremony). Masters and PhD graduates will not be hooded at convocation. To be hooded, grad students must attend the graduate commencement ceremony.
Programs - The college's convocation program will be available digitally through a QR code listing at the event and available online. The program will include all college students who applied to graduate in December, 2025 by the deadline.
Parking - Free parking is available in Lot 3.
