For my Entreprenurship competency, I chose to take FSE301: Entreprenuership and Value creation. I took this in Fall 2024, where I learned about making ptichdecks and designing a new solution/service. My proposal was called CodeCastle, and interactive DoJO that would help teach ASU students how to code in a manner that was more hands-on project based than Leetcode. The current solutions are heavily theory based but lack practical experience in terms of development. To design this solution, I met with over 20 students to get potential feedback and concerns. This ranged from the potential price point of my solution towards how employers could interact with potential candidates. While these interactions were only a small sample of what actually happens in the real innovaiton process, it provided valuable insight in what is like.
Throughout the course, I learned about customer design, doing competitive analysis to seperate from the market, design a revenue model, a go-to-market strategy, and a mock funding pitch. All of this was recorded in a pitchdeck that was presented to recieve industry feedback on.Â
In terms of syncing with my overall GCSP theme of joy of living, my experience in this course did a great job. In Joy of Living, I have always been interested in the gameification of education. In fact, my freshman year I met with Dr. Nelson from the Fulton Teachers College to talk about the issue and more specifically the differences between gameification of education and educational gaming. This is another strong step in that area as there is more to the process than simply the software. It requires an intricate go to market strategy, and this class provided me with understanding the first steps in that process.
This course actually perfectly aligned with the timing as now I am a co-founder of OffLib LLC, an offline digital library solution, and we are currently in the process of pitching to prospective investors and gaining feedback. After doing this course, it taught me valuable ways to strengthen the pitch and appeal to prospective investors.
