My name is Arnav and I am a senior attending Arizona State University majoring in Computer Systems Engineering. As I graduate this Spring (May 2026), this portfolio represents the work I have done in the program and my experiences becoming a Grand Challenges Scholar. Throughout my time at ASU I have engaged in a variety of different courses and experiences to satisfy the various competencies.
The NAE Grand Challenges Scholars Program focuses on different themes while providing different competencies to reinforce them. The theme I have selected to pursue throughout this program is Joy of Living. Throughout my time as an engineering student, my focus within the theme has been focused on education particularly the expansion of educational access via hardware which maps to my major of CSE.
This portfolio contains the different competencies I completed in this program along with examples of the work done in each chapter, along with a reflection on how each competency made me a better engineer and helped me understand how my field of engineering better related to the my theme of Joy of Living.
There are 5 different main activities: Talent, Entrepreneurship, Service Learning, Multicultural, and Interdisiplinary: The latter two have a drop down selection to see the different ways the competency was reached.
