Even if you choose to record content or use previously created content, providing students with a live, face-to-face experience is essential. How do I set-up a class meeting in Zoom?

If you are using your personal meeting room (this is the meeting room that students are directed to via the ‘attend remotely’ button next to their course on my.asu.edu) then you will only need to go to asu.zoom.us and log into your account. Click on ‘personal meeting room’ and then ‘start meeting’ when you’re ready to begin the class. To start another meeting that is not your personal meeting room ID, log into your account and select ‘schedule a new meeting.’

How do I invite participants to my meeting?

You can either copy the meeting join URL or copy the invite text by clicking on the ‘copy the invitation’ button next to the URL when you set up the meeting. Invite others to join a meeting.

Is there a way to see who attended the zoom meeting?

About 30 minutes after the session has ended, if you got to ‘reports’ you can find a list of attendees for a particular meeting. For more details see this doc on how to check attendance in a remote class.

How do I add co-hosts to my meeting?

You can add a co-host during the meeting, by clicking on ‘manage participants’ and then clicking next to their name to change their role to ‘co-host.’ Add a co-host to a meeting

How do I create breakout rooms?

From your meeting, you (as the host) can click on the breakout room icon on the bottom of the screen. You can select how many rooms you’d like and how many people will go into each room. You have the option to have participants be assigned rooms automatically or manually if you would like to add each participant to a particular room. What if students are unable to see the raise hand button?

Students should click on ‘participants’ to see their name in the list of participants in the zoom session. They will see the raise hand option next to their name there. Non-verbal feedback in Zoom

I use the whiteboard or doc cam in the classroom, how can I do something similar in Zoom?

If you have a laptop or tablet with a pen, you can use embedded tools on your machine to do annotation while sharing your screen. e.g. on a MS surface, use the annotation built-in to PowerPoint; on an iPad you can use Keynote.

How do I use Zoom for online office hours?

You can set up recurring meetings in zoom and let students know when those times will be, either as an announcement or posted in an easy to find area on the course site.

Should I set up a waiting room for my personal meeting room?

If you’d like to individually admit participants into your zoom room, you can set up a waiting room. This isn’t recommended for very large meetings since you’ll have to constantly admit each person as they join, but it can be useful if you want to be able to finish a meeting with one student before another pops in.

Can I record my Zoom session?

As the host of a meeting, you can record the session. Click on the record button when you start your meeting, and click ‘stop recording’ when the class is over. If you’ve recorded to the cloud, you’ll receive an email with the links to the recording when it is ready. After you have the recording, you can upload that recording to mediaAmp within a Canvas page to share with students. More information about creating a recording in zoom can be found here. Where can I host my recorded Zoom session?

After your Zoom video has been saved onto your computer, you can upload your video into MediaAMP. Uploading videos to MediaAMP allows your Zoom session to be displayed in Canvas:

Is there a polling feature in Zoom?

Yes! You may have do an update before you see the polling feature in Zoom. For directions on how to update Zoom, use this Zoom Update Resource.

The polling feature for meetings allows you to create single choice or multiple choice polling questions for your meetings. You will be able to launch the poll during your meeting and gather the responses from your attendees. You also have the ability to download a report of polling after the meeting.
