What is ChatGPT?
"ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence tool that uses generative language models to interact and answer questions conversationally" (Ruiz-Rojas et al., 2023).
ChatGPT is an advanced language model developed by OpenAI, based on the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) architecture. It's designed to understand and generate human-like text based on the input it receives, making it capable of engaging in conversations, answering questions, writing essays, composing emails, and much more. It utilizes an extensive knowledge base to respond to and interact with user input. It’s Machine Learning (ML) algorithms allow it to improve the quality and accuracy of responses over time (Alshahrani, 2023). ChatGPT has been trained on a diverse range of internet text, allowing it to generate responses across a wide array of topics and contexts. Its capabilities include but are not limited to natural language understanding, text generation, summarization, translation, and even coding assistance. The model's design allows for continuous learning from interactions, making it an increasingly effective tool for applications in customer service, education, content creation, and more. As a part of OpenAI's lineup of AI models, ChatGPT represents a significant step forward in the field of natural language processing and artificial intelligence.
