Welcome to the new College of Global Futures intranet!
Developing and maintaining an effective public presence across multiple public-facing platforms -- whether publishing articles in print or ow on websites, being interviewed for radio,TV, podcasts or print, or leveraging a social media presence -- plays an increasingly important role in mobilizing knowledge and expertise and ensuring social relevance and impact.
The College supports a number of different ways for faculty and others to leverage traditional and new media.
Please do tag the college in your posts on social media, and like/share our posts!

Mobilizing and making accessible expertise and insights through the media is an extremely important part of what we do as academics within a public university--and especially at ASU with our commitment to public good. However, in today's attention economy, gaining any sort of traction or impact through the media is extremely difficult, and requires commitment, responsiveness, an awareness of what others are looking for rather than what you want to say, and a willingness to work with communications professionals.
That said, if you are willing to respond rapidly to opportunities (within hours, not days or weeks), proactively seek out possible media hooks and trends, and willing to write, talk, and create content in a way that resonates with a broad audience, there are multiple opportunities for leveraging your work and expertise and having broad impact that extends beyond academia.
As well as using social media effectively (and not everyone needs to be on social media, or even should be), it's worth exploring platforms like The Conversation, which enable academics to work with professional editors to create impactful articles that have substantial pickup. ASU is a supporting member of The Conversation.
