Ayaka Mawarida (she/they) is an Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Instructor with a background in education x social activism. She is dedicated to making a positive change in individuals, organizations, and communities by developing EQ approach classes for various purposes such as gender education centering individuals, Conflict and Dialogue, taking the reins of motivation, Perfectionism, empathetic leadership, and so on, and also EQ instructor training. While attending Arizona State University for a Master's in Social Justice and Human Rights, she focused her studies on intersectionality, rightlessness, and emotions with the lens of a Japanese woman who lives in Japan and the U.S. She developed a program to advocate for social justice and DEIB through an EQ approach in her original research, which is presented in this compendium.
Born in 1988, raised in Japan, and moved to the U.S. in 2021. The experience of visiting Spain, Mexico, Canada, the Philippines, and Brazil between the ages of 17 and 24 for work and social activism (music and education) broadened her perspective. It greatly influenced her lens and values to discover the state of oppression and rightlessness meticulously embedded in the patriarchal system.
Ayaka applies her insights as a founder/CEO of an EQ & Equity learning platform in Japan, DAIJOUBU, a Global Coordinator for the EQ education program for the UNICEF World Children's Day at Six Seconds, a EQ/DEIB consultant for companies and schools.
What an amazing work Ayaka has done! I truly admire how she addresses the importance of social justice & DEIB through emotional intelligence, compelling the importance of belonging, human rights, empathy and the collective responsibility to combat "rightlessness". As an EQ Professional and matter-expert, she has a wonderful approach to continue building emotional resilience, using education as a way to transform the society and the challenges that our society is currently facing.
A great presentation pointing out important issues! I would like people who are active in DEIB to know the importance of understanding EQ, and I would like people who are trained in EQ to know that DEIB is involved. I would recommend for those people to read and get inspired by her work.
Ayaka has accurately analyzed the data and provided suggestions on a research theme that is probably unprecedented in Japan. Her interest and intention was very clear, the overall design there was excellent where the educational interventions were thought out by working backward from the goal, and it made it more convincing. It was very refreshing to see the 4 Steps of DEIB Practice and Toolkits listed. This should lower the hurdle for readers who are interested in this website to immediately put it into practice and I hope people would do.
Ayaka is a change maker I admire and respect. Working with her I've learned a lot from her passion to give back globally through education and EQ. She cares and takes action for an equitable world where people from any background can have the opportunity to learn to be smarter with feelings and develop better lives.
