Prusa MK3S+ & MINI
3D Printers
Prusa is a world leader in Maker/Hobby FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printing equipment. The Panther lab is equiped with each of these printers.

Prusa Mini
Build volume:
7"×7"×7" (18×18×18 cm)
Bed Material:
Spring steel double sided smooth PEI coated (default calibration)
or Textured powder coated steel*
Filament Capabilities:
PLA, TPU**, Nylon**
(*bed change requires recalibration of bed height before printing)
(** Nylon and TPU MUST be unloaded and nozzle reloaded with PLA filament after every use)
Prusa MK3S
Build volume:
9.84" x 8.3" x 8.3" (25 x 21 x 21 cm) X, Y, Z
Bed Material:
Spring steel double sided smooth PEI coated (default calibration)
or Textured powder coated steel*
Panther Lab Filament Options:
PLA, TPU**, Nylon**
(*bed change requires recalibration of bed height before printing)
(** Nylon and TPU, MUST be unloaded and nozzle reloaded with PLA filament after every use)
Instructions for use for both printers is in the following SOP link:
PLA Filament
Most common filament type, variety of colors, finishes and effects like glow in the dark and Hypercolor
Nozzle/Bed temperature range:
215/60 preprogrammed PrusaSlicer default
Each spool will have recommended temperature label
Use clean PEI spring steel bed or recalibrate for textured steel sheet.
TPU Filament
Used when flexible parts are necessary
Temperature varies, use recommended slicer defaults: 235/50
Nozzle retraction should be set to zero
Use clean PEI spring steel bed or recalibrate for textured steel sheet
Unload filament and reload PLA after EACH Nylon filament use, to avoid clogging/damage to hot end
Nylon Filament
Nylon is very strong and can be used in applications where strength is necessary
Use slicer defaults for Taulman Bridge, 240/60 first layer and 250/90 all other layers
240-260*C nozzle and 70-100*C bed
Use PEI bed applied with ample glue stick across entire print area so print comes off without damaging bed
Unload filament and reload PLA after EACH Nylon filament use, to avoid clogging/damage to hot end
Allows user to place, customize, scale, simulate and export (gcode) a model (stl) ready for 3D printing
Left sidebar allows user to scale, move, turn model, and add supports where feature overhangs will be too great an angle to print correctly.
Slicing info includes filament used by length, volume an cost and estimated printing time
Top sidebar allows for import of STL files, copies, arrangement and deletion of models
Right sidebar allows user to set print quality settings, filament settings including type and brand and printer settings: choose between MK3S or MINI, as well as specify infill density and brim/support features.
Thingiverse and Prusa3D.com are large databases of user-created digital design files.
User can find and download files for 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC machining here.
The Panther Innovation Lab workstations are equipped with a license to fully functional Solidworks CAD platform so users can create and model their own 3D design ideas.
