Jazz Aspen-Snowmass Music Education (JAS-ED)
Founded in 1991 and now in their 32nd season. The MISSION of Jazz Aspen-Snowmass (JAS) is to present and preserve jazz and related forms of music through world-class events, performances and education programs.
JAS operates a series of companion music education programs (Local Education Initiatives - LEI) which have become the backbone of public school music funding in the Roaring Fork Valley. JAS LEI develops programming that complements existing public school music programs and replaces programs where schools suffer losses due to budget cuts. These programs are invaluable to students and teachers in the Roaring Fork Valley and 1-70 corridor.
With an average annual school music program budget of approximately $1,400 per school, JAS’ annual average commitment of $220,000+ has become essential in supporting local student musicians and instructors. Since 1996, JAS has generated over $8 million to support its multifaceted music education programs!
Please consider making a donation to JAS. Your contribution will directly and positively impact our music students. Additionally, take the time to explore JAS's website for more information on local concerts, events, programs, and the wealth of other musical opportunities this organization provides and creates for the Roaring Fork Valley and its students.
Pays-to-Play is a private lesson fund allowing Roaring Fork Valley music student to take private lessons in any discipline from a local instructor recommended by JAS. JAS pays for 3 hours of lessons to increase opportunities for music education and students while supporting the economy of local musicians.
If you would like to have your student participate in the Pays-to-Play program please take a look at the Directory below and choose a teacher that fits you and your child’s needs.
