Keeping the deer out is a major factor in keep apples growing on trees. Deer can jump up to 8 feet, so a 10 foot fence is a must have in any orchard.

Why are there poles next to "baby" trees (this one is 5 years old)? To support it and hold it up as it grows.

First apples are picked from the over 30 varieties they have at Hillside Orchard.

Next, the apples are binned in large tubs that are then transported to the production facility.

Cleaning and Separating

Once the apples arrive at the facility, the bins are sent into this machine to get washed and scrubbed.

Orchard staff then sorts the apples. Certain apples are set aside for juice instead of being bagged for the store.

After the apples go into the juice room, they are juiced into a 500 gallon jug. That jug is distributed into smaller 1 gallon jugs and then sold in the store.
