This standard is worth 4 credits and is about investigating "Bivariate" Data - the relationships between 2 continuous variables, and fitting a model to the data to make predictions. Follow the steps below to understand the process and allow it to guide you to success!
Using Bivariate Data to be critical citizens - Investigate the world we live in - what is the Story about the world that the data is telling? Bivariate Data is used to analyse relationships between quantatative variables.

If you want to play with the software and data sets from the video they are found here: Gap Minder Tools
This video acts well as a 'one-stop-shop' overview of how Bivariate Data works. Watch it slowly and pause it regularly to make notes and do the activities.
While you are learning this topic you may find yourself wanting to practice the ideas in the videos or slides. Use an of these data sets to do this and watch the videos below to learn how out Stats tool 'iNZight' works.

Traditionally this assessment has been written as a Statistical report with referencing. but at ASHS, you may choose to write a report, present a Ted Talk type seminar with accompanying graphs, produce a PODCast or series of videos or another mode in discussion with your teacher.
You MUST include research and referencing to meet the standard, so there needs to be evidence of this whatever your choice.
If you are in 3MAS, you may also choose to combine your internal with the Inference internal by analysing the same data from two perspectives.
Possible practice Internal - Fast food snack - Purpose brief (READ THIS to develop a clear purpose)
AND
2: Writing the Purpose and Plan (Sections 3 & 4)
You will write your internal report 'inside out' and then put it back together in the correct order at the end. When you have a good understanding of the process you will need to undertake your teacher will set you the task in Classroom and you can begin.
You will start with scanning the dataset for relationships that look promising and doing a visual 'TARSOG' analysis of the graph and the variables you have chosen.
Use the videos below to help you understand the types of things you should be commenting on in this section.
How to use iNZight lite to fit models (5 mins - straight forward explanation)
Using iNZight to fit models and further refinement (20 mins - lots of detail for E!)
