Old and New Delhi
Delhi hosts a number of historical places, among which three of them are UNESCO World Heritage sites: Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar and The Red Fort (Lal Qila). Ruled by the Mughals for three centuries, numerous historical sites are scattered in and around Delhi. Besides, India Gate should be on the "must-visit list" which commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the World War I.
The Taj Mahal, Agra
Possibly the most-visited place in India. Taj Mahal is the epitome of Mughal architecture, UNESCO's citation states: "the jewel of Islamic art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". Situated in Agra, a 3.5 hour drive from Delhi, can also be clubbed together with Fatehpur Sikri, the capital of Mughal Empire during the era of Akbar The Great.
Bharatpur National Park
Situated 56 km away from Agra, it is another UNESCO heritage site. This reserve contains diverse habitats for various species of birds, fish, snakes, lizards, and turtles. You can also see a variety of flowers here. It is an ideal place for bird lovers to visit.
Jaipur - The Pink City
Situated on the periphery of Thar Desert (The Great Indian Dessert) the city hosts numerous tourist attractions, such as Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar and Nahargarh Fort. A 5 hour drive from Delhi, can be clubbed together with other cities of the state of Rajasthan, such as Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Udaipur and Mount Abu.
Nainital
An "eye-shaped" lake situated in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas and a 6 hour drive from Delhi. The weather at this hill station is very pleasant to attract tourists throughout the year.
Ranthambore National Park
Once considered as one of the famous and former hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur, today the Ranthambore National Park terrain (6 hour drive from Delhi) is a major wildlife tourist attraction that has drawn the attention of many wildlife photographers and lovers.
