Every year, the Socios Chapter supports a selected charity through fundraising events, donations and service. Here are some of the charities NHS has supported in the past:
The BC Campus School, located on the campus of Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, is the project selected for 2010-2011. It admits children with severe multiple disabilities who require a highly specialized environment and comprehensive educational/therapeutic services. NHS members will volunteer time during the summer and school year, if possible, to work with students. Funds raised during the year, from car washes, bake sales, and the annual NHS Talent Show in March, will be donated to help with the purchase of special equipment needed by all students.
Amount of Donations Raised: $$$
For 2017-2018, NHS will be fundraising and collecting items for Community Giving Tree, a northeast Massachusetts charity dedicated to providing school supplies and baby equipment for families in need. Community Giving Tree helps children of low-income families in Northeastern Massachusetts by providing them with clothing, baby equipment, school supplies, and other basic necessities. They are a green-friendly organization and encourage recycling clothes, toys, and baby items so they don't go into the waste stream. Every year they help over 10,000 children in towns like Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, Peabody, and others. More information about Community Giving Tree may be found on their webpage.
