"The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of
scholarship, service, leadership, and character".
Ashland High School has had a chapter with NHS since 1959, when it established the Socios Chapter of NHS. See information about the national chapter here.
Students are encouraged, from the beginning of freshman year, to maintain high academic achievement in order to be eligible for selection to NHS in their junior or senior years of high school (see Selection Process).
The colors selected by the national office to represent National Honor Society are blue and gold.
