5th Grade Science:

5th Grade Reading & Social Literacy: 5th graders will participate in a daily Social Literacy block. Students will delve into Social Studies topics through novel study and Project Based Learning. Within that framework, we will read mentor texts together as a whole class, and students will break up into smaller groups to read shared texts at their ability level. Students also read independently as part of our Reader's Workshop. During read-aloud time, shared reading, guided reading, and independent reading, students will have multiple opportunities to read and review various texts for the purpose of enhancing genre knowledge and attaining a deeper understanding of genre-specific information.

Our major units will center around Native Americans, Colonial America, Invention and Innovation, and the American Revolution.
