Assignments

Please check your child's planner (inside of their binder), each night for a detailed list of their assignments. If they missed an assignment, they can contact me at gburnham@ashfordct.org.

It is important that your child finishes homework assignments and brings them to class the next time it meets or on the date that it is due. When students bring homework to class on time, it ensures that they are prepared for that day’s lesson. Please write a note if your child is unable to complete an assignment due to special circumstances, and he or she will be granted extended time. Forgetting materials in school or at home is not considered a special circumstance. Students may have homework assignments to complete over the weekend.

Please note that the district’s homework policy has changed in response to student needs. 5th graders can expect 30-40 minutes of homework each night 3-4 days a week. This does not include independent reading time (which is 15-20 minutes a night for reading class). If your child is spending significantly more (or less) time on homework than the amount indicated for this grade level, please let your child’s teacher know.
