Virtual Reality (VR) Checkout

What Is It?

Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of technology to create a simulated environment. VR places the user "inside" of a virtual experience. The user is immersed in and able to interact with a 3D world. Users can use a smartphone inside of VR goggles or a full VR system to experience virtual reality.

What Is It Used for in the classroom?

VR allows students to go on virtual field trips or to experience other things they would not normally be able to experience. For example, students could travel to another country, go underwater, ride a roller coaster or go inside the human body.

How does the checkout work?

We have two class sets of virtual reality headsets available for checkout. Right now each student will need to have their own smartphone and download any app(s) that will be used, but we will soon have a class set of iPod Touches so students will not have to use their phones and we can purchase and preload apps.

We also have 5 Oculus Quest VR headsets available. These are stand-alone VR systems that do not need a phone to function, and can run many high-quality VR experiences. Let us know if you need help finding an experience to use.
