Augmented Reality (AR) Checkout

What Is It?

Augmented Reality (AR) is technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world. It creates an interactive experience in the real world that is enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information.

What Is It Used for in the classroom?

AR allows students to experience things they would not normally be able to experience in a classroom. For example, students could view and manipulate a cell or organ, dig for dinosaurs, or experience shapes in the "real" world.

How does the checkout work?

We have a set of iPads as well as 10 MERGE cubes available for checkout. Augmented Reality can just be used with just an iPad app, but some experiences need a MERGE cube as well as the MERGE app (we have this on the checkout iPads). MERGE cubes can be shared, so up to 20 students can participate at a time. We also have access to the CoSpaces EDU Pro platform, which allows students to create and view their own AR.
